Default Euro under dash bin conversion

Did this mod a while ago, but I thought I post it up for people to see. Euro under dash storage bins. Installed because it's different and Euro, and very handy for cell phones and other odds and ends. You lose the knee impact foam blocks, so that's something to consider. I had two sets. I installed one set (driver and passenger sides) that came with leather lining. The other set is just plastic, probably from a base car. I might be looking to sell this set of dash bins as I don't have use for them.

Can't say I've ever seen those before but they look pretty good and useful though!

The 'foam blocks' are actually a structural/crash protection feature that are probably required on USA spec. cars per some DOT/NHTSB/or other govt. mandate. They are in about the same area where your knees would go crashing into the dashboard (or vice-versa) in a collision and located behind the lower part of the dash cover- you don't see them exposed within the car interior.

I have not read anything that they are a government mandate, but I have not looked very hard.

The E36 tested poorly with regards to knee protection, see for example, here. That may have been enough. An American BMW mechanic we talked to, said he would not take out the foam, given the crashed E36s he had seen, some involving drivers who were wearing their seat belts (he could see the belts had been stretched).

If sale falls through, I'd like to be next in line for your second set. Plus we're not too far from each other so no shipping needed.

Thanks
