Car running hot. I recently changed the thermostat, and water pump and the car is running hot. I've bleed the cooling system 4 times and the temp gauge is showing around 3/4. Could this be the head gasket? | | | 06-05-2008, 04:22 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Southern California - Orange county Posts: 978 | did u bleed ur ti on a slope with ur front end higher then the rest of the car, people have trouble bleeding there cars sometimes this way it works a little better and make sure ur header is on and set it to full blast __________________ 1995 318ti Cosmos Black Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport, Depos w/ angeleyes and HID 5K, 50% short throw kit, Custom fogged intake, AC schnitzer pedels w/ deadpedels, leather stickshift knob, vitesse tuning Ebreak boot w/ shift boot, X-Brace, 325/328 brake upgrade, Gray millpoint leather and cloth interior, custom computer multimedia system, and Style 5 BBS 17" rims, M3 Mirrors, CF Hood | | | 06-05-2008, 04:59 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I'm almost positive you haven't bled it correctly. First time bleeders have a hard time... I had a ton of trouble with mine. After a bunch of hot/cold cycles the air will work itself out. | | | 06-05-2008, 05:03 AM | #4 | Moderator Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: SoCal318ti Posts: 1,574 | The other thing to consider is a cloged radiator. | | | 06-05-2008, 11:35 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Denver,CO Posts: 27 | I bleed it while it was on my ramps. And this is my third e36 so I'm pretty sure I know how to bleed them by now. | | | 06-05-2008, 01:18 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: NJ Posts: 1,625 | you got air pockets in your cooling system - definatelly. burping the damn thing is a bitch - once I failed twice in a row, my mechanic did it for me. | | | 06-05-2008, 06:41 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Quote: Originally Posted by cg318ti I bleed it while it was on my ramps. Our M Roadster is MUCH easier to bleed than the ti. Apparently, you don't know how to bleed them. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
