Default Bosal Exhaust?

Im currently looking at a Bosal 283-171 exhaust and was wondering if anybody had any info on it. I think i remember reading a post where a guy bought a bosal and it was just an oem exhaust mad out of aluminized steel and was wondering if this was the same thing. thanks

I have had that bosal exhaust on my BMW and yes it is similar to an oem muffler. It is a very good muffler that is similar to stock sound. When I had it on my car it felt as if the car did breath easier, but that is purely subjective. If you want a quality and quiet catback, this is for you. I currently have a Remus catback and prefer it for the chrome tip, stainless construction, and it's sportier sound. I also had an Ansa sport which I loved but it didn't last a couple years before it started to fall apart. Hope this helps.

Bosal cat-back is equivalent to a stock replacement, has a better tip than factory I believe, as I've been told it sounds no different than factory.

I've had the ANSA cat-back. The tip diameter is noticeably larger than that of the factory or the Bosal. The sound is more evident but far from obnoxious. Aluminized steel.

Unless you get system that is entirely stainless, any affordable exhaust system all fall apart sooner or later depending on what part of the country you live in and what you expose your car to, since most are aluminized steel anyways.

Keep in mind, no matter what exhaust system you choose there will not be any any noticeable performance gains.

Bosal is decent for the $, IMO. I have their discontinued stainless BroSpeed on my Ti, and their OE replacement on my E28. Happy with both. Their OE type maybe not be quite as heavy-duty as the factory Eberspaecher, but it's not as heavy, and not as expensive either. Like Mr.Squeelerz said, any non-stainless exhaust will rust out sooner or later. When I put one on my E28, you could buy a lifetime warranty from Bosal for $15. I just mailed in a registration card and a check, but it looks like they may offer the warranty only through installers now. . .worth asking about, IMO.

Buy locally to facilitate exchange, if you can get the lifetime warranty from Bosal.

OTOH, if this Walker really is stainless, that might be the ticket for $330.

. . .looks like stainless guts and aluminized can. . .still might be the best deal.
