Meaning, I replace them when I get constant CELs. But since you have everything down, it might not be a bad idea. An 02 tool will make it easier. I'd get it. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-15-2010, 01:56 AM | #3 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | The tool is not absolutely necessary, especially if you have the entire exhaust off of the car. You can easily fit an open or box end wrench on them and break them loose. After a few turns with a wrench, you'll probably be able to turn them by hand. Just make sure to unplug them first so the wires don't get all twisted up. | | | 03-15-2010, 02:05 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | thankz.....do u know what size wrench would work? | | | 03-15-2010, 02:27 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | I bought one of those o2 sensor sockets from advance auto for $4. I think it is 22mm. Are you planning on replacing the headers? Or just the cat and catback? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 03-15-2010, 04:14 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | If you considered the Supersprint system it's on sale at HMS for half price. Remus unit is very nice as well. If you replace the factory manifolds aren't you going to have issues with state inspection? My M3 would not pass under the previous owner when it lived in Indian Head Md. it just needed a ecu chip swap back to stock. Not that a header is going to pollute anymore they just frown on them because of visually they are not stock. | | | 03-15-2010, 04:54 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | OBD-II they only look to see if you have a cat and no faults. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-15-2010, 05:11 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti OBD-II they only look to see if you have a cat and no faults. | Depends on the state, Mass is no requiring you to have Stock exhausts. I was cited last year and I am not even registered in the state. They do look in some places. | | | 03-15-2010, 05:42 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by M-technik-3 Depends on the state, Mass is no requiring you to have Stock exhausts. They only care that there is no CEL and you have a cat. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-16-2010, 03:43 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | no headers, i thought about it but they didnt need to be replaced. cat and cat back do, so i figure its a good time to just do an upgrade. i saw the sale on the supersprints.........i thought about it but didnt know if it was direct bolt on and from what i remember in the exhaust discussion, SS were louder than Remus. and i just want more free flow with a nice deep throaty sound.......nothing too much louder than stock. | | | 03-18-2010, 07:45 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | am i correct though, i dont wanna miss out on a great deal becuz i was wrong... | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
