Default replacement door panels? OE or not, don't care.

So I just picked up a ti.

My driver's side door panel was molested by the previous owner. Photos here: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showpost....6&postcount=11

I want a replacement. I don't care if it's OE or not (if not, I'd replace both sides). It just needs to look better than it does now.

Think I could adhere it some other way (assuming the clips are broken) and cover/fill the screw holes w/ something that doesn't look like butt?

Thoughts? Help me out.

I've got some door panels for sale.
It would be $75 + shipping for both door panels (they've got the leather inserts out of an active)

They do have all the clips in place.
The previous owner should have glued them back in place using epoxy glue found at the hardware store, instead of screwing them in.

I'm new to the BMW realm... any idea if the colors will match? Can't tell for sure, but those look gray?

I have an Alpine White w/ the tan (whatever the BMW lingo is) cloth interior. Leather is no big deal, as I'm replacing the front seats anyway.

Are you in NC or CO?

Ha, that's what I figure. I picked the car up yesterday, haven't taken the doors apart yet.

Thanks....

Scott- one thing that would help is to pull a door panel and look for the sticker that gives the color OR you can lift up the rear seat cushion (2 snap tabs along front edge) and look for the original build sheet underneath. I know the gray color is called "Sand Gray" and is slightly darker than dove gray which is much more common. If yours is tan... then IDK. It would help a lot to know the actual color code.

You might consider keeping your existing panel and finding a better way to get it to stay in place, then repair or cover the screw holes.

+1

Google for "plastic repair kit" or "vinyl repair kit." There's a variety of ways to fill the screw holes. Then you'd just need to find some paint/dye that matches the panel.

You could also ask the dealer if that part is still available. I think the list is under $300 and if you get a BMWCCA discount (I get -20%) it makes it sorta affordable and no monkeying around.

oops, sorry guys... slipped my mind to reply. thanks for the suggestions though! I think I'll try the repair method before dropping a ton of cash on a panel just to deal with some holes... I have other things I need to pay for first (see thread in brakes section shortly).

as for color, I'll get the code soon... the car is across town @ a shop @ the moment.

cheers,
scott

96Cali - When I had to replace my door panels, the red millipoint panels were 500 each from the dealer. Late 2007. They took about 6 weeks to arrive.
