Auto Trans Only Shifts When Cold

So I was driving home one evening and my auto 95ti suddenly jerked and I heard a loud clunk and my rpms shot up.

I immediatly pulled the car over to the side of the road and saw that the gear light on the dash was lit. It wouldn't shift into any gears including reverse. I turned the car off and sat there for a few minutes and started it back up and the light was gone. I managed to get it to limp a few more blocks home. Now I notice that when the car is cold it will shift just fine.

However as it warms up within a few minutes it will shift progressivly worse and worse until it won't stay in in gear at all. The gear light doesn't come on until the car is warm and all ability to move is practically gone. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Check for leaks. When the fluid gets hot, it also gets thinner.
