Just wanted to check if price on the wheels below is good based on what you guys have seen over the years. $50 per wheel at 16inch. Not sure the true condition until I see them. Been going back and forth between 16 or 17 for my car, but if is this a steal then I'll go 16. Not bad. Not my cup of tea. Maybe if it was on some low profiles and lowered big time. I'm all over the board on this still. Just trying to find a happy medium between my dirt driving and city...and really on the dirt once a week maybe. Just stumbled on these 17s with tires at 90% tread. Need to find out the tire size, but if it is $325 for all 4 it would be tough to pass up. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/pts/2577637642.html | | | 09-21-2011, 04:29 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Montreal Posts: 283 | you drive your car a lot on the dirt? here's my reference for bmw wheels and weights. http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ I suspect that 325$ set to be kinda heavy if you're looking for added performance from a wheel set up. just the wheel might be around 23lbs. too much for my ti i'd think. I have a set of 205 55 16 continental oem tires on style 55 wheels at 21lbs each plus tires , about the most I'd go on it. couldn't find a lighter BMW wheel And I had a set of OZ Supperleggera 17in 18 lbs wheels with 205 50 17 tires and It came to the same weight as my 16, so I sold the 17in set. no perf. gain other then a ET40 which was nice. so add a couple more lbs for your 17 in wheels plus some more for the tires. nice price though I have a set of Kosei K1 , 15lbs 16in waiting to be installed. that should be nice :-) .. not sure about the weight of 16in steelies but I think 15in is 17lbs .. adding weight to your wheels will make it harder to take off and harder to stop and it shows Last edited by mtlblue; 09-21-2011 at 04:32 AM. | | | 09-21-2011, 05:36 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | they're a bit more expensive than the other options but they do look good on a ti looks like it's a 45 series tire, which should fit on the ti with no problems | | | 09-21-2011, 04:02 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Montreal Posts: 283 | Nice! | | | 09-21-2011, 07:24 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak they're a bit more expensive than the other options but they do look good on a ti looks like it's a 45 series tire, which should fit on the ti with no problems | Nice. Fits the aesthetics of the Ti pretty well. __________________ | | | 10-03-2011, 07:07 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2011 Location: Phx Posts: 196 | Only on weekends en route to hikes and camping. But, we do take some extra time running the car on empty forest roads, graded ones that is. Still searching. Going to take a look at these tomorrow: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/pts/2574738635.html. We settled at $400. I've read mixed reviews on Continental's runflats, so I am still not sure. He's put 500 miles on them. We'll see. | | | 10-03-2011, 02:10 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Run flats are heavy, stiff, and expensive to replace, not to mention, if needed to repair, an inexperienced tech could very easily scratch the rim while trying to dismount the tire. I ran 205/50/17s for a couple weeks, then put on my 225/45/17 winter tires, MUCH MUCH better in every aspect. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
