When I am driving there is a constant squeaking on bumpy roads. I need to check my bolts ans see if I can tighten them up. When someone is sitting in the seat it doesnt make the noise. | | | 11-23-2005, 08:38 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Wiltshire, UK Posts: 83 | I had a really bad squeak recently and found it to be rear seats. As I had rear passengers a few days before it must have compressed something. I bounced around in the back for a couple of minutes and now it is quiet as a mouse | | | 11-23-2005, 11:21 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: wisconsin Posts: 27 | Rear deck lid I had the same problem and found it to be the rear decklid. The two side pins that slide into the mounts to hold the decklid down were vibrating. I had one mount that was broke allowing it to just ride free and produce a constant squeak. Hope this helps. | | | 11-24-2005, 04:26 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Quote: Originally Posted by davep-uk hi guys, this is a bit vague but my ti has developed a pretty much constant squeak while driving. it is definately coming from inside the cabin and as far as i can tell is somewhere behind the front seats. has anyone got any common squeaky areas i should check before i go mad and tear the whole interior to pieces? thanks very much!!!! either that or i mnight have to start wearing ear defenders to drive! | have someone drive while you sit in the backseat. That's the best way to isolate where the noise comes from. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 11-24-2005, 08:44 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Watford, herts, England Posts: 805 | thanks for the help people! been tightning my nuts all day and it seems to have quietned down a bit but still the odd squeak. i'll get one of the guys at work to sit in the back tommorow and have a listen! thanks again, that was driving me MAD!!!! __________________ '96 318ti in Montreal Blue :m-tec sideskirts,m-bootspoiler,clear corners & repeaters .m-tech side mouldings, Magnex Exhaust System, leather armrest, F-15 gear Knob, 18" Evo 2's. Make sure you don't over-torque those. I'd try removing them, using a bit of loctite and reinstalling to spec. Also check the springs that are used to keep the adjustment mechanisms tight. I had a bit of squeaking there and all it took was a bit of fiddling. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
