I see part number 1. That is the trim piece for the outside. I thought it just clicked or snapped on......will it just not snap back on for you? __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 12-19-2008, 06:56 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Athens, Ga Posts: 44 | Quote: Originally Posted by Will'sBimmer Hmmm it seems like it should just click back on. I looked up in my repair manual and it says to unlock the mechanism for it. I cant remeber how i got it off, i did unlock something onthe inside of the door (like where the door locks onto the car) a plastic piece i took off and i unlocked it there. cant see what to do | | | 12-19-2008, 08:08 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | does it have something to do with the lock itself. Maybe like you have to secure the lock in there and then maybe tighten it down from behind????? I am a little confused as you are. I am looking at that diagram..........hmmm do you have part #13(the base) in place???? __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 12-19-2008, 08:19 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Athens, Ga Posts: 44 | Quote: Originally Posted by Will'sBimmer does it have something to do with the lock itself. There is a thin piece of metal that is on the inside of your door right where the handle cover goes in (not pictured in the above parts list). I assume you have your door panel off, so put the handle cover on from the outside, and on the inside where the "teeth" from the handle cover go in, slide the thin metal part so that it "locks" the handle cover in place. Like i said it is very thin (almost paper thin) and looks brown-ish, it might be copper? I hope this helped. | | | 12-19-2008, 10:38 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | on the edge of the door, where the lock latch is there is a oval plastic cover remove this with a light, look in the hole and you will see the "lever" swing the lever in towards the inside of the car. this is the unlocked position fit the cover on, then push the lever back to the locked position the hold the cover firm. i used a long flat headed screwdriver and it worked fine __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free !
