Default abs light

i bourght my bmw 318ti and the abs light was on so i got it checed out by bmw and they said i needed to replace the abs sensor and they quoted me £200.

So i went on ebay and bourght a new one for £20, And they said the frount left and right sensors are the same so i got one.
so took the old one out and fitted the new one the light stayed on but then went off after awhile on the motorway but if i drive slow i can feel the brake and when come to a stop it comes on again

and the new sensor i bourght off ebay the metal bit on each side of the abs are the oposite side to the one i took out do u think this is the problem
