Mine is doing the same thing. I have seen a few answers, I have heard it can be air in the system, stuck thermastat, dieing waterpump, or if your fan doesnt cut on, something fan or electrical. I am going to do a complete cooling system rebuild, with new thermastat, waterpump, and hoses. Flush and refil the system with fresh coolant. Hopefully it will solve my problem, and it would probly be a good idea for anyone if they are haveing problems or havent had it done to their car already.... You can get a waterpump for around 50, thermastat for about 15, hoses for maybe 20 and coolant for about 15. For a DIY'er maybe 2 hours of work, I feel it should be on the top of peoples todo list if their car needs it, its good assurance to keep your car in good shape.

This is a good place to start and something that should be done anyway. If it doesnt fix the problem, then their may be something wrong with the fan or other electrical problems. I hope this helps, good luck...

Hey Jess, that's a good decision. Here's an excellent writeup by CirrusSR22 that should be very helpful:
