I'm not sure about you, but my rear 4" speakers are what provide the bass to my car. (Well did before I added the bazooka tube) The reason that the factory head unit would sound best with the stock speakers is because the head unit feeds into the amp (behind the glove compartment) which has crossovers and delivers the high to the tweeters, lows to the woofers, and the mids to the midranges. Replacing the speakers will help with a non-factory head unit, if you bypass the amp, but with the stock head unit, replacing them will just make the tweeters built into the speakers inoperable and not function properly. I put a Boston S55 set in my kickpanels and only the woofer works (though it sounds better than the stock Nokia's).

Last weekend, I installed the Bavarian Soundwerks Stage 1 speaker upgrade. MB Quart all around. All 10 of them. In a word, they are amazing. The compliment the BMW Traffic Pro nicely.

Damn! I'm so jealous... that's the perfect BMW audio setup!

Really, thats disappointng to know.

I totally forgot about this thread after starting the 5-speed thread and now just learnng to drive a 5-speed is my main concern, but I do love a good sound system while crusing.

I hope the previuos owner took that into account and requested an adapter or someting that would provide the crossovers when he had Circuit City do the job.

I swapped out the head unit on my 93 Nissan Maxima with the Bose system and still used the stock speakers which had built in amps for each of them using an adapter that www.crutchfield.com provided me. Someone esle mentioned tha those adapters adjust the gain controls, but didn't mention crossover functions.

I'm just siked to master stick shift for now so the current stereo will just have to do.

Thanks

Install is a bit tricky and not for the impatient. Be prepared to solder and use a hot glue gun. The end sound is worth it.

Sparkchaser:

I went out to Bavarian Soundwerks and all their stuff was "Rainbow" something or BSW. I didn't see any MB Quart. Is BSW just rebranding MB Quart? Plus I didn't see a 10 speaker "Stage 1" for a Ti. Do you have a link?

The upgrade for the ti is not something they officially offer so they will custom build you a set. You need to call them and tell them you want to upgrade the speakers in your ti. The MB Quart option is available and costs less than the Rainbows.
