Looks like the Intake manifold is missing the cover that goes on above the throttle cable. Looks like a 1995 base; very nice car. I wish your daughter luck with it. I was 17 when I got my ti and could hardly manage it... haha | | | 07-12-2007, 02:49 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Southern California Posts: 420 | LOL!!!! Well tell your daughter Congrats, nice sound system. Dang when I was 17 I got a 2.2 Plymouth Turismo. The first car to start my love for the Hatchback. __________________ "Success is Never Final, Defeat is Never Permanent, it is the Courage to Continue that Matters!" - Winston Churchill Mothman [SIGPIC] | | | 07-12-2007, 02:58 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: White Rock, BC, Canada Posts: 28 | It is a 1995 base car, only air and cloth seats as options, possibly the cassette. The original was even packed neatly in the trunk. Since she is looking forward to autocrossing it, the suspension may evolve. She even likes the steel wheels and hubcaps better than the alloys. With that in mind I will look for some 16" e46 steel wheels for autocrossing, should be cheaper although weight may be an issue. The risk of a new driver grinding off wheels is high so steel works for now. Missing the cover, didn't notice that, thought it should have a fan shroud though. It is complete, original and very traceable down to 97 salesman, so missing stuff is surprising. The 2nd owner had it from 97 until we bought it. The first owner had it for a year. | | | 07-12-2007, 03:21 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Southern California Posts: 420 | History! Good history on the car, did it come with a complete maintance history as well, that would have been SWEET! I was lucky to get one, only because my car was a Company Car in Oxnard for Huge Company and it was only driven by the VIP's and CEO's. When I got it in 2001 it only had 48k on it. Only bad thing was they were smokers and someone had VERY bad eyesight and put burn marks on the driver side interior panels. Speak of I have to go washer her before I run out of Daylight! Congrats once again, If it has any issues before taking to the Dealer to get fix, ask us we can help you save $$$$ by telling you how to do it yourself. I know so far this site has saved me over $858.00 on labor. Thus is why I support the site! lol __________________ "Success is Never Final, Defeat is Never Permanent, it is the Courage to Continue that Matters!" - Winston Churchill Mothman [SIGPIC] | | | 07-12-2007, 03:54 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: White Rock, BC, Canada Posts: 28 | Maintenance history wasn't so complete, but I know where it was serviced. At a Honda dealership, a friend of the previous owner, for years. I have great confidence it was well and competently maintained. I have changed all the fluids, the coolant was the blue BMW stuff, it is again. A few other maintenance issues plugs, not wires, AC belt. The ball joints are good. I replaced the front sway bar bushings, no noticeable change though. New front rotors and pads have arrived, from one of the 318ti.org recommended suppliers. They were fast and helpful. New cabin filters from eBay. I previously purchased a Bentley manual in anticipation. Very easy car to work on, prices in fact seem no worse then the Integra or my wife's Expedition. Changing the transmission fluid noticeably, but minimally improved shifting, and it's better than the Integra. It took a lot of searching and considerable encouragement from this site and Bimmerforums and it was worth the time and effort. | | | 07-12-2007, 05:24 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Southern California Posts: 420 | You know I need to get that manual! __________________ "Success is Never Final, Defeat is Never Permanent, it is the Courage to Continue that Matters!" - Winston Churchill Mothman [SIGPIC] | | | 07-12-2007, 06:10 AM | #8 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Prediction: "Within the first 10 replies to the original message." Then I noticed that you have an aluminum housing for your coolant. It must have been replaced before. Well it looks real good. I like BMW's because I find them easy to work on also. Keep us posted on what you do with the car in terms of getting it ready for autocross. tell ur daughter good luck and have fun driving. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 07-12-2007, 06:26 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | Quote: Originally Posted by roadrash Prediction: "Within the first 10 replies to the original message."
