projectors or not? mike, From the posts, i figure you havent yet done anything about projectors? I have done this conversion on our 96 ti and its an easy diy job, if your competent with a soldering iron. I bought some saloon headlights off the dreaded bay of e, and got the wiring harness from a breakers yard to connect the car loom to the new headlights. Bmw thoughtfully colour coded the wiring, left to right andn its the same on the compact as the saloon, so was just a bit of colour matching and off you go. This means that you can fit h1 bulbs and not have to worry about dodgy kits or extra wiring harnesses as some people do. I realise you have bought a hid kit with 9005/6 bulbs, so i reckon you have two options. 1. Stick with the existing kit and get some shrouds for your bulbs ( speak to ben at chromeline design for them) or buy some h1 xenon bulbs and do the projector conversion. The reason people have been flashing you is either the alignment (5 to 10 quid to get your mot station to check and adjust), or more likely is the fact that regular headlights do not have a beam cut off built into them, so the light isnt very well directed to the road. The shrouds would solve this problem. I hope this is of use to you. It may not read very well as i am suffering from the general anesthetic i had on friday. Please get in touch if i can be of more help i will. Nige PS. i think my bushes need doing too........... until it fails an mot though, the cost is off putting. |
