Default 95 ti 5 speed - Thoughts?

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/c...245981083.html

This is only my second post, and i posted the other one in "Ebay and craigslist listings", so im sure if this is not the place to have this thread somebody will move it lol. but I am really interested in taking on this Compact as a small project. All i need out of the car initially is a dd, though down the line i hope to be able to make the car a little more fun.

I'm mainly wondering if i can keep my costs low by just obtaining an extra head (~$50 from a junkyard, already found a whole motor for $250), head gasket, water pump/tstat, timing chain/tensioners. I'm decent with wrenching, and i have a couple friends who are much more experienced that can help. i just figure since the head is already off, it would be less difficult of a project just because i dont have to remove it myself.

Any help would be great!

You'll just have to figure out how it all goes together again!
They're fun cars, pretty easy to work on.
I'd figure the cost of a good running engine and 500-1000 more for all the other things.

I plan to also buy a service manual and roam the internet for DIY's.

Like i said, i have already found a 120k M42 swap for $250, but since i dont have the time/skills/money to motor swap, i plan to just ensure the health of the old block/pistons, and throw a new head/headgasket/cooling system into it. Figure i can keep it all under $2k, which is what i expect to sell my truck for

Just get the whole M42 motor and you will have lots of spare parts.

Thats the way i was leaning, though again im not sure where id put the motor if i bought it lol. Hoping i can get the car itself for 600 + 250 for the other engine. Im going to look around at indie shops first and see if anyone is willing to do the job lol. One guy said "2300-3k if anyone will even touch it" like ??? its not like the block is cracked. Also gonna try and get in touch with a machine shop to see what it would be like for a valve job+remachining.
