The ti is like. Mix between the is and the 944, I think this is a car I can stick with for a while normally I can't go a month or two without trading on craigslist. I have some pics, but I'm more interested in seeing other peoples m/tech 318ti, mine came with a couple of mods, a brand new act stge2 clutch, and an uprated aluminium radiator, and just put in a ram air intake. I'm interested in modding so if anyone has any popular mods let me know thanks -James | | | 09-09-2009, 07:51 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Sacramento Posts: 245 | Welcome! What are you trying to mod suspension, interior, exterior, motor, or all? There are people on here that have swapped s50, s54 motors into the Ti. There is even someone who has built a turbo for his M44 engine and got the engine built by Metric Mechanic.(It's a beast). Suspension is mostly bilstein sport shocks and H&R race springs. With other a ton of others man. Too many for me to type right now. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 09-10-2009, 01:50 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | a limited-slip is also a good mod if you don't already have one, you can use one out of an E30, E28, Z3 or an earlier ti that came with it stock (after early 96 BMW stopped offering LSDs in non-M cars) | | | 09-10-2009, 01:30 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: CS Posts: 8 | Well right now I am fiberglassing the door panels and pillars, has anyone made a fiberglass dash? I'm interested in diy mods, I'm a poor student so I have no money ha. But I avoid costs by doing all the work myself, I just got done replacing all four bearings, unlike my Porsche the bearings are super easy to change (thanks BMW). What are the most effective diy mods to exterior? P.s I think my car has an LSD already | | | 09-10-2009, 05:47 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | if you get a front lip off a MkIII Jetta or a Volvo 940 from a junkyard it will fit on the front bumper with a little modification here's a write-up with the VW lip: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17395 and a thread with some pics of the Volvo lip: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?p=242419 you can also put some spray-tint on your lights to smoke them which looks pretty good on a dark colored car | | | 09-10-2009, 06:15 PM | #7 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | FWIW, the intake in your avatar is not a RAM air intake. It's a short ram intake, also known as a "hot air intake". If anything, it's a performance downgrade. As for LSD, If you jack both rear wheels up off of the ground, spin one by hand and watch the other, if the other wheel spins the opposite direction or doesn't spin at all, you have an open diff. If it spins the same direction, you have a LSD BTW, what's the point of a fiberglass dash? | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
