I too must admit, I didn't think this was going to be real. When I saw your picture with a front clip in your basement I thought you'd gone mad, so I chuckled to myself and steered clear. As I do with all the looneys/mad scientists I come across. now though...I've seen it and seems I cannot discern reality from hoax .....unless this is moon landing....just as rare. | | | 01-22-2018, 05:21 AM | #137 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | | | | 01-26-2018, 04:54 AM | #138 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | https://youtu.be/HmSkSVt4IZ0 A short video of a few part throttle pulls. Couldn't keep traction. And i really need to invest in a gopro | | | 01-27-2018, 04:20 AM | #139 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | Love it. How does it feel when driving? Ya those 245s aren't going to cut it. Depending on wheel type you run a 285 with a small roll. Thank you for making this! | | | 01-28-2018, 06:01 PM | #140 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | Its squirrelly. But tracks pretty straight, i have the rear toe camber kit in it but i could of instaalled it better. Thats why I'm working on a new subframe and just got the rest of the m roadster rear end parts. So those other trailing arms that i welded up will be going on Nikki (my silver ti) and t I got another brace kit from srs and will be bracing up the M arms. Even though it already has the factory bracing I'm going to double it up and try to create better/ more efficient sway bar mounts to the arms. Wheel hop broke the ones off the current arms and they had the garagistic brace on the. Its a good brace kit but I'm pushing the limits of the entire car, so it's not their kit, its my abuse. I also have garagistic derlin bushing kit for the car to try out. Really looking forward to the new shifter bushings and a zf tranny. The gettrag-ity is about to blow 2nd like Nikki did. Although I'm pretty impressed its lasted this long. I'm betting as soon as the ground warms up 1 or 2 good launches and its done, or i blow out another stock diff. | | | 02-14-2018, 03:24 PM | #141 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | 2nd round of reinforcement of control arms. Finally located all the m roadster parts i need to swap out the rear end. I just have the camber/ toe kit to weld in and send out for powder coat. | | | 02-17-2018, 05:27 AM | #142 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2016 Location: Long Guyland, New Yawk Posts: 9 | Quote: Originally Posted by andakn I've mostly have seen crank scrapers on all out drag cars. It requires precision machining, but, it really cut down on windage and slapping of oil in the crankcase. A team I was with did this to their Integra R motors with good results. | | | 02-17-2018, 05:59 AM | #143 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2016 Location: Long Guyland, New Yawk Posts: 9 | Just realized my suggestion was about a year to late. Awesome engineering sir! | | | 02-17-2018, 06:04 PM | #144 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | Well, this is a prototype and their is a good chance I'll blow it up. Im curious how some of the parts hold up and how much power is possible. On a side note i was cleaning up some things in my basement and decided to pull the head on my peugeot engine that i blew on the drift track 8+ years ago. It had pushed the fire ring out and into one of the coolant jackets. But as i was taking it apart which i have had them apart before but years earlier, something looked very familiar to the bmw m30 engine i was doing a head gasket on at work. Head design, block design, bellhousing pattern, and even the intakes were similar. So i did some research and found that Lagos Talbot Sport designed both engines. So I've been thinking of looking for an e28 to put the other peugeot engine i built into, that is if i can confirm that the 535is 5 speed will bolt up to the 2.2 turbo peugeot engine. My other thought was to just get the tranny and fab it into a 2002 or e21 or e30 | | | 02-17-2018, 06:20 PM | #145 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | Couple pictures of that peugeot head gasket. I think that was about 25psi boost. That's why on high boost applications you want a multi layer head gasket instead of fiber. But i didn't build this one, it was the original engine that was in my 505 | | | 03-29-2018, 12:39 AM | #147 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | A few pictures of the rear end parts and reinforcements | | | 03-30-2018, 11:51 PM | #148 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: US Posts: 315 | Rear end looks really good. Which springs did you end up going with as I too want a little more height? Do you think there will be any issues with the single mount diff? Thoughts of the 2 top adapter kit? Can't wait to hear on how it drives! | | | 03-31-2018, 03:30 PM | #149 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | I'm currently trying stock m3 springs. I'll take some pictures of the difference. When I started playing with the nitrous on the stock engine with dasc, I noticed some stress cracks on the diff mount tabs. So I went overkill on the reinforcements. I opened up the frame rails and the cross brace and filled with chrome moly square tube. Also made new diff mount ears with 1/4in plate steel. If I noticed too much diff movement it won't be too hard to add the second mount. Although that will make me have to re-do the sway bar in the rear because the rear bars are only bent to go around 1 mount. I have collected quite a few different away bars from doing Dinan upgrades at work. So I may look and see if one of the other bars fits better. Getting ready to swap my slip joints on the exhaust to 3in v band clamps today. As much as I'm going to be experimenting with this car it will make it easier to remove and replace. Also have to make some small adjustments to my shift rod to get the shifter right where I want it. | | | 03-31-2018, 07:23 PM | #150 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Fremont, CA Posts: 148 | Nice work! I love these engines. My car is completely stock, just well-maintained, and recently passed 250K miles with no issues. It's so smooth that people can't believe it's just a 4-cylinder putting out 138hp. People forget that BMW has a lot of experience building a smooth and reliable 4-banger. __________________ Trixie Alpine White 1996 BMW 318ti Sport | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
