Default Black relay in the fuse box

Can some one tell me what this relay is, I replaced my thermostat housing last night and went to go start the car and that relay was making an god awful noise. btw its an 95ti manual.

The internet says that's the hazard flasher relay.

It doesn't hurt to try Google on a part number: 1 388 533

Probably not. Are you sure it was that relay making the noise? There are several other relays right there, including the fuel pump relay, that would keep the car from starting. Can you give more detailed symptoms?

I thought perhaps the crash signal might shutdown the DME (and trip the hazard flasher relay), but I couldn't find anything suggesting that in a quick scan of the E36 ETM. Perhaps you can find something I overlooked.

It was just making an buzzing noise and vibrating pretty bad and when I went to start all I heard was an click and that was it. Didn't dare to roll start, and the battery was brand new in it.
