Obviously, a check of the fuse box would be required as well. EDIT: I would also try shouting out to stldrummer. Looks like an enthusiast in your area. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 12-31-2007, 03:17 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Malvern, PA Posts: 373 | The key does not spin freely. Thank god. I know people had issues with that, and that was my first question when i called my back home arsenal of bmw enthusiasts. I did look over the fuse box. Everything seems to be in order. I had modified my clutch switch over the summer, so there is an additional "disable" switch, in case i feel the need to immobilize my car. I was inspecting that to make sure, and pulled a little bit on the wires connecting my switch to the safety switch and they came disconnected. I'm not sure if they were disconnected initially but thats what i'm banking on until the morning when i can get out there in the light and fix it. It seems like that's the problem, ive had it go on previous cars. The key goes in and turns like normal, dash lights and head lights come on with no issue, nothing dim. There is just no attempt to crank. I'll keep you posted. __________________ 1997 TI Sport, Silver | | | 12-31-2007, 09:41 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | lets hope its that. sounds like it is very likely __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 12-31-2007, 09:53 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Richmond Hill, GA Posts: 1,231 | try bypassing the clutch switch. | | | 12-31-2007, 10:44 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | I had a bad battery this summer, and the lights looked fine and bright, but the battery was pretty much dead. At least dead enough to not start the engine. Threw me for a loop. Did you try to get a jump just in case? | | | 01-01-2008, 01:51 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Malvern, PA Posts: 373 | It turned out to be the clutch switch. A wire disconnected. All better thanks for the suggestions everyone. __________________ 1997 TI Sport, Silver | | | 01-01-2008, 02:11 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | ahhhh, back on the road! right on __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
