(but did it since i put the diff in) i have a e30 6cyl limited slip. thanks guys -Josh __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 11-29-2007, 08:42 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: lancashire, england Posts: 300 | http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...highlight=3.91 http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...highlight=3.91 please dont expect it to be the same thing but......? it might be. it could be one of a few things i mentioned in the threads. just check you hacked enough off the floor strengthener, there needs to be enough room for movement between the top of the diff case and the floor pan. __________________ E36 3.0 M3 Cosmos Schwarz E36 1.8 318ti Cosmos Schwarz | | | 11-29-2007, 08:50 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Maybe you just loosened something up with all the sideways power. Have you checked for any loose mounts? __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 11-29-2007, 08:57 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | ya all the bolts are tight and the floor support is still in there i am gonna try doing soemthing with that another day. i think maybe more front bearing because i jacked my car up and tried driving and it still clank. but that could ahve been floor still if it was jerking it enough __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 11-29-2007, 08:58 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: lancashire, england Posts: 300 | Quote: Originally Posted by b.u.ti-ful Maybe you just loosened something up with all the sideways power. THERE IS A CORRECT ORDER IN WHICH TO DO THIS, but i cant remember if its the front or the back one's first so do a search. its on here somewhere. someone did a diagram using l's, )'s and 0's type o' thingy. what? i know. __________________ E36 3.0 M3 Cosmos Schwarz E36 1.8 318ti Cosmos Schwarz | | | 11-29-2007, 09:02 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | yeah i did tighten the very top ones first then the front two. its what the guide said to do. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 11-29-2007, 09:12 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Go out to an empty parking lot and do a slow small circle to the left, and then do the same to the right. If you hear the noise going one way but not the other it could be a wheel bearing. | | | 11-29-2007, 09:13 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: lancashire, england Posts: 300 | ok, then some might advise re-tightening them after a week. if its not this then it may be the front bearing, thats what was wrong with mine. the way to tell is to put the car on a stands, get some one to yank on one of the wheels back and forth whilst you listen to the input flange, it will clunk if the bearings fcuked or take it out and turn the input flange by hand. it should be smooth with no delay in engaging. you may find the noise comes from somewhere else inside the diff if you do those procedures. sounds silly but have you put the right oil in it? __________________ E36 3.0 M3 Cosmos Schwarz E36 1.8 318ti Cosmos Schwarz | | | 11-29-2007, 09:21 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | Quote: Originally Posted by mohaughn Go out to an empty parking lot and do a slow small circle to the left, and then do the same to the right.
