Default ALPINA Z4 Coupe

Saw this thing the other day on the commute to work. I wasn't a fan the carbon fiber diffuser on the rear. The front spoilers looked okay. Not sure what the exact ALPINA model is for this car.

Did some looking, and Alpina has only done one model based on the Z4 and it was the Z4 Roadster S. So what you saw probably has some Alpina parts, and they managed to somewhere get an Alpina badge that they stuck on the back. And besides that, the only two Alpina models ever sold in the US are the Alpina Z8 and the Alpina B7.

Having said that, I don't think that rear diffuser is from Alpina (and I don't like it either). Alpina usually goes for subtle exterior looks, and I looked through the E85 parts catalog on the Alpina website and didn't see anything like that. I'd be curious to see more (and better) pictures of this car if you could get them.

They have an E36 parts catalogue on their website (PDF file located here), but it's in German, doesn't list prices, and I don't know where you'd order any of the stuff from.

Just did some more searching and I couldn't find any rear diffuser like that for the Z4, carbon fiber or not. So my guess is it's someone with a nice chunk of change that had it custom made. It would be cool if you could get in touch with the owner to find out more about the car. It looks to originally be a Z4 M Coupe, so there could be some nice goodies in it.

Definitely not an alpina car...

http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/1...oadster-S.html

The alpina S has little 3.4S badges on the side, and does not have that oversized body kit... Looks like something you would expect to find on a civic.

well, maybe he thinks the Alpina badge adds horsepower, he should throw some GT-R and Type-R stickers on next to it

Not only that, but it was the Roadster S (they didn't make a coupe version), plus if this were really an Alpina, it would have Alpina rims. The rims and rear bumper/exhaust (minus that god-awful carbon diffuser) appear to be ///M pieces, so my guess is an M Coupe and he threw the Alpina badge on there because he has Alpina floormats.

Seriously though, if you could find out more about the car or get some better pictures of it (from more angles), I'd be curious to see what it's got. Who knows, there could be some forced induction under the hood.

Well, if you do see it again and you have the time, flag him down. And if someone had a valid reason, you could always run the plate to pull up the registration info.
