It sends a signal to the computer telling it that everything is hunky-dory in post-cat exhaust land. I need one, cause I really don't feel like spending $150 for a new O2 sensor that's just going to fail again. | | | 08-10-2005, 01:26 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Colyumbia S.C. Posts: 101 | put one on a 95 Trans Am and a code came up for "no activity". It has a set voltage and the ecm knows it should move some. wasted money. | | | 08-10-2005, 03:15 PM | #3 | I miss my Ti....... :( Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 828 | Quote: Originally Posted by gooten1 I know the domestics have these...they're for cars without catalytic converters (like mine). Active Auto Werk sells them for like $300 or so (I think). -Chad | | | 08-10-2005, 05:54 PM | #4 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by ZeroG Is your car OBD I or II? Don't blow anyones eardrums out, don't make the tint too dark in the front, but paint the rest of the windows for all they care, pollute as much as you want, just don't blow yourself up. Don't run over anyones kid. (= But seriously, I will check on a decent simulator, and let y'all know what I find. | | | 08-15-2005, 03:25 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Tennessee Posts: 523 | Did cutting out the cat make it Honda loud? What about with a stromung exhaust? | | | 08-15-2005, 06:33 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | It is loud. but in a good way. Just make sure to keep the resonator. | | | 08-15-2005, 08:23 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | I've had experience with 02 sensor simulators that work. As for the m4x, I haven't found any. If someone could give me a breakdown of how the o2 sensor works it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to make a simulator. | | | 08-17-2005, 03:07 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Tennessee Posts: 523 | Will cutting the cat off make it immpossible to re use again?and will it be outlandishly loud with a stromung exhaust system?? | | | 08-17-2005, 05:40 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | If your careful you can cut it out and weld flanges on so you can re-install it when needed. FYI there is a element of hazard in this. If you get caught in a safety inspection traveling across country you may find your car on the back of a tow truck for illegally modifying a emmission system. The fine can be 10K dollars.
