Hey Guys, Need some help. I am wanting to lower my 99ti (145000 miles)and I am looking for just a little attitude adjustment to give the car a more aggressive look. The car is primarily just a driver, work once and a while and weekend so I am not looking for any radical suspension upgrades, just something that works and is done right. I called Bav Auto (who was very helpful) and explained what I wanted to do and they put together a list of parts that I would need for the upgrade and e-mailed it to me. Not knowing very much about suspension I need you guys to look the list over and add any comments or suggestion. As everybody else I am trying to save a buck but I understand that I still need quality parts. Any help would be appreciated. Here's the list they provided. 36 613A SACHS FRONT GAS E36 LEFT 176.95 1 176.95 36 614A SACHS FRONT GAS E36 RIGH 176.95 1 176.95 27 008F SACHS REAR GAS E30 64.95 2 129.90 SIKF E36 6/92 SHOCK INSTALL KIT-E36 48.95 1 48.95 SIKR E30 SHOCK INSTALL KIT-E30 RR 11.95 1 11.95 33 52 1 137 972 SHOCK MOUNT-REAR E36 11.95 2 23.90 33 52 1 128 734 SHOCK MOUNT GASKET- 1.25 2 2.50 31 33 1 092 885 SHOCK TOWER BEARING-E36 39.95 2 79.90 SK E364 CP6 AUTOSPORT SPRINGS-E36TI 224.95 1 224.95 Thanks again for the input. | | | 02-05-2008, 08:48 PM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Saybrook, CT Posts: 23 | Bavauto sells the a kit composed of bilstein sports and bavauto springs for $652. It will be cheaper than what your looking at. It doesnt need the install kits but you should prob look at getting the new rear shock mounts. I don't know about the front strut tower bearings tho. Me and my buddy just bought the kit and upgrade/reinforced rear shock mounts. Will most likely be installing it this weekend. If you are doing the rear shocks I highly recommend getting some e46 M3 RSM's from your dealer. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-05-2008, 10:01 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | if you are using it as a dd, I would get the Sachs shocks for the same reasons 96cali pointed out, although I'm not sure but I think Sachs are the factory shocks on the ti (unless there are different models of shocks) | | | 02-05-2008, 10:54 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: wisconsin Posts: 27 | Quote: Originally Posted by davidl Bavauto sells the a kit composed of bilstein sports and bavauto springs for $652. I will check into that with Bav Auto. | | | 02-06-2008, 04:07 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Saybrook, CT Posts: 23 | Part # : SK E364 CP6 BIL | | | 02-06-2008, 08:05 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreek if you are using it as a dd, I would get the Sachs shocks for the same reasons 96cali pointed out, although I'm not sure but I think Sachs are the factory shocks on the ti (unless there are different models of shocks) | Sachs and Boge are directly comparable to factory stock if not the OEM actually. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-06-2008, 09:37 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: wisconsin Posts: 27 | | | | 02-21-2008, 07:33 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Posts: 44 | On bavauto, why are the sachs factory sport package suspensions cheaper than the regular ones? | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
