I was thinking of just buying a couple L brackets and screwing the sub to the floor but I was wondering if anyone knew of anything under the rear of the trunk that I shouldn't drill into, gas lines, gas tank, wires, etc. I've tried looking under the car but I can't figure out where the back of the trunk actually is. also, does anyone have any other suggestions to secure it? I already know velcro won't work since my whole trunk carpet will slide along with the sub | | | 09-08-2010, 10:09 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: MD/PA/DC Posts: 1,629 | the gas tank and lines are under the back seat...Not much other than exhaust and the spare under the trunk. Just use the shortest screws you can. __________________ No more ti. | | | 09-08-2010, 11:29 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | that's good, I knew the tank was under the seat, I just wasn't sure how far back it went, I don't even have the spare anyway thanks | | | 09-09-2010, 02:29 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Bethlehem, PA Posts: 1,106 | i drilled into my trunk a few time... maybe i should check to see if i ever hit anything.. hahha. as for the sub, is it a separate aftermarket sub with the amp bolted to the back? the safest thing to do is to mount the amp to the rear seat, so it does not fling around with the sub. the WORST thing that could happen is your sub rolls around, pulls out the ground and the power wire (or the remote ground) and they touch. if the ground and main power wire touch, you WILL have a fire. i have 4awg wire, and a 100AMP fuse. i was changing a capacitor, and they wire touched the top of the cap (short ciruit) and the entire wire got red hot, and melted the plastic off some of the wire. the circuit blew alittle later (their is a delay till) if it touches the remote wire, kiss your headunit goodbye, as they are almost never fuse protected, and the wire will short the radios remote wire out, or even wreck the radio. its better to mount the amp on the seat, then run wires to the sub. as far as the sub rolling and moving around, try to use brackets in the back, but do not expect to much. most of the metal in the trunk is very thin, and the screws pull out easy. maybe try to use either Velcro under the sub box (to see if that helps keep it in spot) or put a thin, flat board under it (like plywood, or MDF) and screw that to the bottom of the sub box and paint it black. it might help. __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect!
