My 318 didn't smoke or anything when I did add it to the brake booster line but it did feel alot more smooth when driving after I did it, idles nicer now too. If you got poor idle problems, I'd say do it now, and add it to your oil later. | hahah yea I just wasn't sure if maybe it would mix somehow, and yea I'm going to add it to the booster line now and then to the oil and gas later when I change the oil again __________________ Aerodynamics are for those who can not build engines | | | 12-25-2011, 01:24 AM | #92 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Lancaster, PA Posts: 295 | HAHAH so i just seafoamed my engine through the brake booster line and that thing smoked like a mother clucker, i mean my neighbors were pissed off all staring hahaha, i cant believe how much better she runs now i mean the idle is great!! theres no more hesitation when i hit the gas!! and shes all around much quicker, i love it!! highly suggest to any car over 100,000 __________________ Aerodynamics are for those who can not build engines | | | 12-31-2011, 11:27 PM | #93 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: Seattle Posts: 16 | seafoam advice Hey guys , am wondering if seafoam can harm my engine on a 1996 318 ti It has 180k on it but it dose drive perfect . The only concern is that when I open the engine cap to do the oil change I can see the gunk in it . Am afraid if I use seafoam it will clean it and then the pistons will have some play in the chamber . Please help , is it worth to try it ? | | | 12-31-2011, 11:31 PM | #94 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | uhhhhhh.....^ no __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 01-01-2012, 12:12 AM | #95 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Lancaster, PA Posts: 295 | Hahah unless your pistons came out of a gunk factory I think we can say they were clean to begin with so I bet cleaning them again wouldn't hurt anything __________________ Aerodynamics are for those who can not build engines | | | 02-07-2012, 08:43 PM | #96 | Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: pa Posts: 45 | seafoam will cause major problems. i would highly recommend not using it. you will fry piston rings and loosen up all the carbon build up that is keeping your seals tight. your better off slowly spraying water into the intake manifold and basically creating a steam cleaner in your cylinders. only spray a little bit at a time. and btw your going to mess up your cat using either method if you have a lot of gunk built up in there so get ready to buy a new one... | | | 02-07-2012, 11:49 PM | #97 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Lancaster, PA Posts: 295 | Quote: Originally Posted by huckaboo seafoam will cause major problems. i would highly recommend not using it. you will fry piston rings and loosen up all the carbon build up that is keeping your seals tight. your better off slowly spraying water into the intake manifold and basically creating a steam cleaner in your cylinders. only spray a little bit at a time. and btw your going to mess up your cat using either method if you have a lot of gunk built up in there so get ready to buy a new one... | Water is terrible for your engine!!! and unless you have some crazy amount of build up its not going to clog up the cat __________________ Aerodynamics are for those who can not build engines | | | 02-07-2012, 11:51 PM | #98 | Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: pa Posts: 45 | Quote: Originally Posted by planksta Water is terrible for your engine!!! and unless you have some crazy amount of build up its not going to clog up the cat | So is kerosene...
