Default Similar rotational metal on metal plus check engine light

My '96 w/185K started having issues about a week ago. When I went into reverse (w/manual) there was a metal on metal scraping sound that went away when I went into 1st. The same thing occurred a couple of more times. Yesterday, the check engine light came on x 60 minutes then off for 60 minutes (during commuting). This AM, the rotational sound began at start up, check light came on in 2 seconds and then rotational sound disappeared after about 10 minutes. Check light went off again after I started car at noon but the noise was there after I went in reverse. The noise dissapated somewhat when I slowly engaged the parking brake. Do I have 3 completely unrelated issues here? Thanks

Do you have rear drums or disks? check your rear brakes, could be the sensor turning on the light.

My car makes a metal grinding noise when I don't drive it a few days, specially when it rains and the rotors and pads rust.

RK,
Hope you are able to track the problem.
On a side note, do you have any intel or sources for 993 factory manuals?
Thanks

Check the exhaust mount under the transmission my support shackle came loose and was rubbing on the drive shaft at times, it totally sounded like brakes or a diff noise. #5 in the picture.
