When I went into reverse (w/manual) there was a metal on metal scraping sound that went away when I went into 1st. The same thing occurred a couple of more times. Yesterday, the check engine light came on x 60 minutes then off for 60 minutes (during commuting). This AM, the rotational sound began at start up, check light came on in 2 seconds and then rotational sound disappeared after about 10 minutes. Check light went off again after I started car at noon but the noise was there after I went in reverse. The noise dissapated somewhat when I slowly engaged the parking brake. Do I have 3 completely unrelated issues here? Thanks | | | 10-20-2012, 02:06 AM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Bad rear wheel bearing.....? My car makes a metal grinding noise when I don't drive it a few days, specially when it rains and the rotors and pads rust. __________________ | | | 10-20-2012, 11:02 AM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: Roanoke, VA Posts: 472 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti Driveshaft center load bearing? | X2 ^^ Mine made a wierd sound somewhat like that until I had it replaced with the trans. | | | 10-20-2012, 01:42 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Jax, FL Posts: 541 | RK, Hope you are able to track the problem. On a side note, do you have any intel or sources for 993 factory manuals?
