I bought a 318ti in September quite cheap but a very unloved car, I'm trying to get it back to how it should be, and so far I have the interior pretty much sorted, just need to get the radio fixed (any pm's for tips much appreciated!) I suppose being on the tyre section I should really ask about tyres, so my question being, how big can you go? With regards to a standard 1998 model 318ti at the moment I have some hideous 15 inch alloys which are truly awful, looking in the Haines manual it only gives reference to 15 and 16 inch wheels, but how much bigger can you go than 16 without the tyres scrapping on the fairings? Regards, Chris. | | | 02-15-2010, 06:00 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: Long Beach, SoCal Posts: 373 | Quote: Originally Posted by bmorekirby i had a question about 18" tire sizes. anyone know if a 40x235-18 tire with 40mm offset rim would fit without having to roll the fenders? | If you want 18's, make sure that you run a sport suspension spring and a pair of quality struts(shock). Although some people have been known to go lower with modification's. H&R springs are tried and proven. Koni or Bilstein shocks and struts are a trusted manufacture. here is an image of my ti with 18". My fenders are untouched. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 02-16-2010, 08:00 AM | #22 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Perth - Australia Posts: 12 | Quote: Originally Posted by Marv17 i believe they are AC Schnitzer or DTM cup mirrors. | Cheers mate. Currently, Im running Continental 225/40zr 18". The reason my car looks so tucked in front is that Im running a raked suspension. I have stock M-sport springs in the rear and H&R sports in the front. And also the pic is taken downhill. This reason I do this is purely becuase my garage is on very slanted hill, and it makes it almost impossible for clearance had I went any lower. If I had a flat driveway, id' be on some cooljess slamage ish w/ z3 race rear's and all that mess. At any rate best of luck w/your tire selection. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII Last edited by Mr. Crow; 02-17-2010 at 07:02 AM. | | | 02-17-2010, 08:16 PM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Maryland Posts: 265 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mr. Crow Forgive me, I failed to list my tire size is response to the OP's thread.
