Down pipe is sorta mocked up, I only made 2 cuts to a 3" mandrel bent "UJ" pipe and out of those cuts, it's almost perfect!! I'll take some pictures on Thursday, when I start welding them up. Laid out the wiring harness, forgot how many plug's there was, that'll be an afternoon by itself labeling them all. Silicone Intakes is out of stock on 3" 45 degree aluminum pipe, which is what I need from the intercooler to the intake. | | | 05-28-2010, 08:41 PM | #47 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | | | | 05-28-2010, 09:39 PM | #48 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | What psi do you plan to run. How much HP are you going for?? How many other turbo cars have you driven? I'm wondering how you'll like this turbo. Personally, I love it... but have nothing to reference it to other than my old turbo, and before I patched all the holes in my leaky charge pipe welds. p.s. pressure test your cold side pipes for leaks before you tune. I could not believe how many I had. p.p.s. what are you doing reading this? It means you're not working on the ti!! | | | 05-28-2010, 10:09 PM | #49 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | Quote: Originally Posted by bubela What psi do you plan to run. A few other cars, however they were all around 250whp. My favorite was my geo prizm, pushed 240whp at 15 psi, running the e85 magical gas. I have a charge pipe tester don't you worry, I've been around the block enough there man!!! I'm reading this as I wait for more parts/funding, and I'm packing to go up north for the weekend. | | | 05-29-2010, 12:51 AM | #50 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by hatchgrafix My favorite was my geo prizm, pushed 240whp at 15 psi, running the e85 magical gas. | that must have been one hell of a sleeper | | | 05-29-2010, 01:44 AM | #51 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak that must have been one hell of a sleeper | Yes it was fun!! I'm going to build another one again sometime. I had vanity plates on it that said 1FSTGEO. Another note, I'm going to delete the power steering and wanted to know if anybody knows what serpentine belt I need to order. And that means I have a brand new oe 6cyl belt for sale. | | | 05-29-2010, 07:52 AM | #52 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 593 | Nice progress. What's the reason for deleting power steering? | | | 06-26-2010, 07:38 PM | #53 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | I'm not sure yet on the PS delete. It just would make this swap easier to do that rather than fitting the pump and different lines. At this point I just want the car to start up, if indeed she runs I'll be stoked enough to cover the other bases. Update: Charge pipes are at a local speed shop getting welded up. I will get pictures of those when I get them back! | | | 06-26-2010, 10:36 PM | #54 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | Dude, New Sweden is making me powdercoat my charge pipes... Get this thing Done, Son! Don't let me have a fully built motor up and running before your build is boogy'n! | | | 06-30-2010, 08:39 AM | #55 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | | | | 06-30-2010, 11:48 AM | #56 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | Dude, your stuff is way to pretty. Please tell me you didn't weld/powerder coat that yourself. You ARE going to drive this car, right? Not like smallsnails... Awesome. And congrats on finding the girl! One of the main reasons my build is going so quickly I'm sure is due to the fact that I don't have one. But I'm keeping it that way for a bit! What's left to be done on your car? | | | 06-30-2010, 05:25 PM | #57 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Rocky Hill, CT Posts: 1,065 | Looks damn good hatch, glad to see some serious progress being made. No I can't weld Aluminum, I had a speed shop nearby do the welding. It turned out amazing. It's actually not powder coating, it's a metallic textured paint for aluminum/plastic etc. It has a texture similar to medium sandpaper, looks sweet. I just painted my valve cover and radiator/alternator duct cover with the stuff. All thats left to start it up: - Top Off coolant - Power steering or no power steering! - Purchase basemap startup calibration, and get some tech support from Mike R. DONE - Wire 6 ignition wires from coils to ignitor to aem DONE - Wire fuel pump relay to aem DONE - Connect fuel lines/filter DONE - Coolant hoses to heater core etc. DONE - Drain tank of old gas, fill up tank DONE - Purchase/wire cam/crank sensors DONE - Wire 0-5v wideband output to aem DONE - Route battery cable from trunk to engine bay, connect battery DONE - Order valve cover gasket, the head gasket kit I got Victor rienz came with the vanos valve cover gasket DONE - I need a Nissan J30 ignitor pigtails, the one I ordered didn't have the plugs We needs some Megan Fox up in here!
