Seems OK apart from a small rocker cover / head gasket leak which I've read quite a bit about on this site. It has a oem spoiler on it which I really am not sure about - I take it that these are purely cosmetic?? It also came with no manual (it's a Japanese import to NZ) so I don't know what all the buttons do! - in particular the switch next to the ACS button. Anyone shed any light on this? Thanks in advance. | | | 02-22-2010, 01:37 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Wellington-New Zealand Posts: 78 | Gidday fellow Kiwi, I am in a situation similar to yourself with a 98 318ti auto jap. import and no manual. If you spend some time looking around this site you will find heaps of info. Regards the button next to the ACS mine is blank, but the 3rd button in that cluster, mine has a 0 and 1 on the little wheel which is a remote control for the headlight adjustment. If the spoiler you mention is on the back it is purely cosmetic. If on the front I guess it would give some extra downforce. How about some pics?? __________________ | | | 03-03-2010, 11:19 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: New Zealand Posts: 11 | Here's a picture. Profile showing the oem boot spoiler which I'm not sure about. And what is that mystery switch? | | | 03-03-2010, 11:34 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | I like the spoiler - is the switch for fog lights? __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 03-03-2010, 11:44 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: New Zealand Posts: 11 | nope, the fog light switch looks the same as the normal lights switch/button but on the other side of the dash (idf you understand my waffle) | | | 03-04-2010, 12:16 AM | #6 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | NOS!!!!11!! | | | 03-04-2010, 03:27 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | that's an aftermarket switch, it's something the PO wired up, possibly NOS!!!!11! | | | 03-04-2010, 03:44 AM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: New Zealand Posts: 11 | NOS - No wonder my ball joints are a bit wobbly! | | | 03-04-2010, 07:04 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | I've seen a couple guys add a switch to allow the fogs to stay on with the high beams.
