Cabin air temp is now hot] But the crazy thing is: My MPG went up from 32 on highway to 35. New thermostat do that to a car? Not from what I have read.... | | | 02-22-2010, 06:12 PM | #2 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | I vaguely remember something about when the car runs cool due to a faulty thermostat, the ECU (?) will set the air/fuel mixture to be rich in an effort to get it up to proper operating temp. So, it seems logical to me that once the car is at proper operating temp. the ECU wouldn't run rich, which would increase your fuel mileage. But, I might be imagining ALL of that. Was your engine running cold enough to where enrichment was happening? No way to know without knowing the tables in the ECU and what temp it was stuck at, but it's a possibility. __________________ Josh | | | 02-22-2010, 10:35 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | Glad you got it sorted out! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
