When I turn hard left or right, the tire scrapes the fender flare. Are my springs adjustable? | | | 05-28-2010, 02:27 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiKid I have H&R springs and koni struts & shocks with 18"x225's. You may need to roll your fenders. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-28-2010, 02:32 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I've got the same size rims with H&R race springs, no rubbing at all, I'm thinking the offset on your rims are off | | | 05-28-2010, 03:12 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Posts: 39 | I coulda sworn he said the offset was the same at stock.. the rims are ac schnitzers, I don't like them so much. | | | 07-06-2010, 10:31 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Posts: 39 | The tires are 225/40. They do scrub the inner wall. They are actually ACS replicas, my mistake. I plan on rolling the fenders and using spacers sometime soon. | | | 07-06-2010, 10:40 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | If the wheel is rubbing on the fender spacers will only make it worse. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 07-07-2010, 12:40 AM | #7 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Posts: 39 | I am going to roll the fenders to prevent that from happening. The main point of contact is the wall closest to the engine. | | | 07-07-2010, 01:01 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Ah, I thought "fender flare" meant the outside of the fender. Anyway, you shouldn't have any problems with 225s, I am running 245s all the way around with no rubbing at all. I'd check the offsets of your wheels. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 07-07-2010, 01:17 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Posts: 39 | I'm guessing they are not the same as stock since they are replicas. Could I fit 285/35 on 18x10 in the rear and 245/35 on 18x9 in the front with spacers and rolling the fenders? The offset is 41mm. | | | 07-07-2010, 02:29 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Dan I ran 18x10 (285s) all the way around, major fender work though. Here's his thread http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26643 I have 17x8.5 et41 on my car and no issues. However, the clearance on the front strut to the inner wheel is not much at all. I doubt 17x9s would work with out a 10 - 12mm spacer. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 07-07-2010, 03:16 AM | #11 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Posts: 39 | What did you use to roll the fenders? I was thinking one of those $250 fender rollers and a heat gun. I doubt it's anything I can't do without my dad because he raced for about 10 years. I don't think I need 285's in the front..255 will probably be enough lol. The wheels are from turner motorsport. In Dan I's thread he said that he had to cut and pull the rears to get 285s to fit, so I'd imagine you'd have to do the same. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 07-07-2010, 04:47 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Winston-Salem, NC Posts: 39 | It will be some time, but when i do, it will be on here. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
