Default Electrical or Mechanical prob?

I was having my ASC light come on when i started driving my car. It ahs done the same thing after about a block or so of driving and remains on. I also get some spurting of the car and lurching when i hit the gas. I was thinking this might either be one of 2 things. a fuel pump, and or somehting electrical. i was thinking it could possibly be something with the ABS, since the ASC and ABS are together in the electrical system. if you know or have heard of this before, i'd really appreciate it if you could lemme know! thanks

I dont think a bad fuel pump would give you a ASC light. Try hooking it up to a fault code reader & see what that shows.

A quick test might be to un-plug the traction control throttle and see if the driveability issues remain.

This will cause a CEL in addition to the ASC light, so be prepared. If it won't start at all in this condition (not likely) plug it back in and get to the dealer (unless you have a code reader).

Remember to remove the negative cable from the battery and wait a minute or two before doing any un-pluging, or re-plugging of expensive parts...

I'm guessing that the ASC throttle is getting bad info and closing down as if you lost traction. Root cause might be a bad wheel sensor (there are two on the car left front wheel and right rear wheel).

Fuel delivery may be suspect as well. I had my fuel pums replaced under warranty with an improved part. No problems since then. When you go to the dealer next, have them run the VIN and see what recalls were repaired and see if they can get your car up to snuff...

Could be as simple as a bad fuel filter too... Crimped fuel line (any work under the car lately?)

Default Same problem

I have had this same problem for about 2 weeks. For me it is very Intermittent which lets me believe its a sensor issue. About 75% of the time the car drives fine. I have never had the problem arise when driving with the traction control turned off. I tried this the other day. Which also points toward the sensors. Also if I could ask. When the ABS and the traction control kick in under normal working conditions (ie sliding and/or spinning the tires) how loud of a sound should it make? this is the first car I ever owned with both features (working). Thanks and please let us know what you come up with!

The ABS pump makes a motor sound, and you can feel the pulsation in your foot.

The traction control is silent: it just closes down a second throttle, so you press on the accelerator pedal and nothing happens...
