It's going on a M52 powered ti. I was wondering what cooling line people are using. The ti cooler is only one bend, where it looks like a 328i cooler has more bends. Also, the z3 rack is missing the mounts for these. | | | 03-17-2019, 01:45 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | The Z3 cooler actually goes up and in front of the radiator, it's pretty substantial compared to the E36 versions and that's why there aren't any lugs on the rack for it. I'm using an E46 ZHP rack and the 328 cooler on my car. Not sure what the E36 guys do when they swap to a Z3 rack, maybe zip tie it or hose clamp it to the rack? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 03-18-2019, 12:59 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Seattle Posts: 513 | Thanks. I think that is the answer. Use the 328 cooler and figure the mounts. I just don't understand why the ti cooler isn't the same as the other e36's. Why engineer that little one for us? The bigger would have worked. Maybe the remote filter runs cooler? | | | 03-18-2019, 03:52 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Yeah, I can't think of a good reason other than the smaller cooler got them to the temps they wanted to see in testing. Possibly differences in the PS pumps between the 4 and 6 cyl cars too. The smaller cooler is definitely cheaper to produce and they used it on all the 316 and 318 models according to realoem. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 03-18-2019, 07:35 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | I had used a thick zip tie. I gradated to a metal hose clamp around the rack to secure the cooling loop. Works great. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org!
