Default Roundel: Hack Machanic trades 318ti for Geo Metro

The current issue (March 2008) Roundel, the BMWCCA club magazine, has an interesting article by Hack Machanic (Rob Siegel), telling his story of how he bought a 1999 Geo Metro ($1500) and trying to sell his 318ti on ebay. I am glad that the final bid of $3700 was below his $4700 reserve price, and he decided to keep his bimmer. He has a compelling reason for the Geo Metro, but nothing can replace our beloved 318ti.

I read his article in Roundel every month. Good to see the ti won this round.... let's wait and see what he does in next month's Roundel. I would like to meet Rob Siegel in person one day and he lives in MA.

I would never be caught in one of those cars ever. I wouldnt ride, drive or even have sex in one of those. Terrible and just plain ugly.

His main reason is fuel economy for his daily 5-mile commute. Our 318ti only gives 26mpg, a Geo Metro can do much better than that. This guy Rob Siegel has 7 cars, four of them are BMW: Z3M coupe, 3.0CSL, 2002tii, 318ti. He also has a Porsche 911SC. I envy him. Wondering if he is on this forum and what would be his screen name?
