That wrap looks really good on the track. Nice photos! Where was this at?

Tell me more about the tow pig? 3.0? 4.4? 4.6? 4.8? Factory BMW hitch? What kind of trailer?

Way to easy to make a clone and the 4.6 and 4.8 look identical... can't tell from that pic without asking.

Assuming all is stock. It's a 4.6.....

4.8 had different rims. My brother has had both 4.6 and 4.8 so I know most differences, mechanical and cosmetic

Not going to make any assumptions about the stockness of the man's cars based on the non-stockness of his ti...

More concerned with trailer type and overall weight than anything else... I believe all X5 models are rated with the same towing capacity.

Its an '03 4.6is. Draw-Tite class IV hitch with OEM wiring from bavarian autosport. Install was kind of a pain as there was facia trimming and widening of holes in the bumper carrier. Other than that, it tows like a champ (18ft dual axel wood deck flatbed). 75mph down I-94 and it gets 15mpg. Not the most ideal tow rig, but it serves my needs well. Plenty of power, comfy, and it looks ok. I have total confidence in the truck and its handling and braking capability with the amount of stuff I haul. My buddy tows his E36 m with an '06 4.4i on a similar trailer with about the same results as me. Not sure what the 3.0i could do...

edit; car weighs ~2300, trailer I'm guessing is 1500, another 500 or so of tools, spares, coolers, clothes, data loggers, hd cameras, laptops, dong bags, etc.

We have a 3.0 sport and I have been looking at ways to tow with it. I am thinking I will need to go with a featherlite trailer to make it work... the 3.0 really struggles with power to start with.

My brother has an 18ft steel open-pit dovetail hauler that's considerably lighter than the one I use. Made by H&H (nation-wide builder) and its probably not more that 300-400lbs heavier than a similar sized aluminum hauler that's 2.5-3x the price. Seriously, I would recommend looking into them. He gets lots of questions at the track re: his trailer. Only reason I dont have one is that I live in a townhouse and have no room. Plus I can borrow a trailer for free
