Default Saturn Sky... Hot and I want.

I've been watching this car from concept to near production and the more I see it I want it. Listen, I have a thing for convertibles, this fits the bill. My lease will be up next year, and I am seriously considering getting myself one of these. Base price: around 23,000 including power windows/locks/etc and 170hp in such a tiny rear wheel drive car seems pretty good.

If you dont know what it is... Saturn Sky.

It basically is a rebadged Vauxhall, so it won't be that typical Saturn... Plus I've heard Saturn will be bringing in their European cars as Saturns in an attempt to boost the image from crappy cars to something pretty good. Cmon just look at this Interior.

Plus they're going to make a Sky Redline with a turbo, rumor has it producing 240-250hp. I have never been a fan of saturns, but this car I think I am able to look past the badge. I'll be heading out to a Saturn dealer to get more info sometime this weekend...

Just wondering what you guys thought? Comments?

Nice looking car. I'd rather have a Lotus Exige though.

I do admit its not a bad looking car, I was shocked when I saw it for the first time. I was thinking that there was no way it could be a saturn. good thing you cant get dents haha!

I think the Solstice looks way better. Only problem is that they don't have enough power. Now when they have the GTP model next year, that may be another story.

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Default Vauxhall 220, Solstice and Sky

All have the same platform built by GM Europe originally.
They have very interesting suspension set-up using Bilstein Coilovers up front and set-up similar to F1 and Multi-link in the back. Very Sporty.
The Solstice and Sky has a 170Hp 4 Cylinder and the Vauxhall uses a Turbo(?), if I'm not mistaken and produces over 220-240Hp.
But, for rarity, handling , power and handling; I would prefer the Lotus.
Especially te Exige: 4 Cyl. Naturally Aspirated engin producing 200Hp with only aroud 1900lbs of weight, it will feel like a normal (2600-3000lbs) sports car weight with 300Hp.
The Lotus will probably have a more reliable engine, it is outsourced through Toyota (Remember the MR4 Spider?).

just watched a comparison between the mx5 and solstice last night. I think I'd go with the mx5, it seemed sportier and quicker in the turns. I guess it's all personal opinion, because in reality I can't get either, I barely fit in my ti, let alone a small 2 seater.

The solstice might fit you better than you think.

Anyway, Grassroots motorsports in the latest issue did an autocross comparison between the Solstice, new Miata, and a very well developed autocross Miata.

They put them all on the same tires, and the Solstice was faster than the new Miata, which they said had a suspension that was too soft.

I was surprised, but I trust GRM and their opinions.

The Sky is the same as the solistice. The solistice GXP is a turbo that should have plenty of power.

Have any of you actually been in a Saturn? Come on....they're junk. GM's disposable car.

When was the last time Pontiac made a reliable turbo? Stick to companies that know what they're doing.

But you don't get it... It has the Saturn brand logo, and that is it. Everything else isn't Saturn at all. I've been in Saturns before and they sucked, but this shows off a completely new design and quality direction. Who knows, when they come out they may be crap. BUT considering it is the same platform of the Solstice which is getting amazing reviews, and designed to be the higher version of the Solstice, I'd think it would be pretty decent.

By the way, I love Lotus. But the waiting list to get one and considering the price for one? Let alone getting insurance for it? Cmon, a huge hassle. Especially the money part of it, I'd need to sell myself on the streets to even have a shot.

But Lotus did help engineer the Kappa platform from what I've read. Which the Vuaxhall, Sky, Solstice adn upcoming Opel GT are based on. It's tough getting past the badge, but once you do I think you'd realize it's a good car.

P.S. They're releasing Pontiac Solstice GXP, turbod to around 240hp... and soon there will be the Sky Redline with hte same engine as the GXP for those of you worried about power.
