Default Operation Hellrot 325

And so it begins, after picking my donor car up.....I have finally found a little time to work on it and rip my M44 apart so I can pull that motor. I've posted some pictures below of the progress and hope to continue doing so until the project is complete.

Goals for this week/weekend:
Pull the M50 out of donor
Replace head gasket on M50
Prep valve cover for paint
Clean up the M50

Pics below is of the donor car, pretty well hacked up but there is a full engine and 5 spd tranny.

The nice thing about this is I should have a lot of good parts after this is all said and done that I can sell to help balance the cost.

Total Bill So Far:
94 325 Parts Car: $650.00
Trailer rental: $53.00
M50 HeadGasket Set: $132.00
Head Bolts: $ 16.00
Radiator Hose: $19.00
Oil Fier: $5.00

Total: $875.00

Assuming I do not find a whole parts car myself, I will be eventually be interested in buying parts for my manual swap.

I would be looking for the Flywheel, Flywheel spacer (I am unsure if this engine uses one), flywheel bolts, clutch, transmission, drive shaft, pedal box, master/slave cylinder, and shift stick assembly with boot.

If you don't have a way of getting rid of the body once the car is completely parted out, I could pick up the whole frame with the parts attached, and dispose of it for you.

I don't even have an engine for my 318ti yet, so I could wait while you part everything else out.

Thank god for a heated garage!!! It was a balmy -30 with the wind chill today, but I made a little head way. I was able to reclaim the air conditioning system and get all that out of the way. The plan was to pull the engine also but the weather put a glitch in that, donor car is stored in mini storage and I didn't really want to brave the elements today. Hope this week it will warm up a little and I can get the M50 pulled. Well it's a slow start but hopefully things will fall into place soon.

mphmotorwerks found his on Craigslist, and I hope to find one there myself soon.

I recently saw and automatic 328i (200,000 miles) with front end damage go for $800, and two manual 92 325i go for $1500.

I am still holding out for a 93-95 325i so I can easily swap in M3 cams, and easily mess around with fuel maps (Since they are OBD1).

well haven't posted in a while but due to the negative degree weather haven't been able to do anything until today. Preped the m44 for removal and was able to pull the M50. Plans for tonight is to get the engine cleaned and the head gasket changed. I have pics and will post tonight

Well the weekend ends, I was able to get the M50 pulled and the head removed today, I also remove the 5spd tranny out of the donor to set aside (dont need it already have one). Here are a bunch of picture of the progress. Slow but surely.
I want to clean everything up this week and re-paint the valve cover and get the new head gasket re-installed.

are you doing this swap out of a storage unit or is that just where the donor is sleeping?
