If it costs too much to fix and you want to upgrade, start looking and saving for a wrecked '96+ M3 or 328 and do a swap. Otherwise try to find another m44 with low miles. If you do decide to go with a 6cyl swap, I'd consider buying the whole car from a junkyard since you'll need much more than just the motor to do the swap. If you buy just the engine, the other parts will nickel and dime you to death. | | | 06-08-2007, 04:37 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | but what tipe of engine i need for the swap? or just find the m3 96? __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 06-08-2007, 05:04 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | im just curious and this really must suck i dont know how it would feel to blow an engine but i blew my airbag once and i really hated that lol im just curious on how this happened? did you mis-shift? just over work the engine? or catastrophic melt down lol __________________ Live Everyday As If Its Your Last A friend is someone who is willing to step into a flame to save you........aka a 318ti | | | 06-08-2007, 05:05 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | and the engine issue what is your budget range?? how much are you willing to spend on a new engine or swap? __________________ Live Everyday As If Its Your Last A friend is someone who is willing to step into a flame to save you........aka a 318ti | | | 06-08-2007, 05:21 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | u dont really feel anything just the car start to make a weird sound and u lose power and i dont have that much money but i need a car anyways and i want the swap engine. __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 06-08-2007, 05:29 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | aight so if you dont have that much cash you can pull a m44 or m42 for under a grand if you really look hard and you can snatch a fairly good 323 or 325 engine for under 3 grand so its all up to u for which way u want to go. __________________ Live Everyday As If Its Your Last A friend is someone who is willing to step into a flame to save you........aka a 318ti | | | 06-08-2007, 06:51 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | What did you do that the engine blew? | | | 06-08-2007, 04:10 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | i found a m3 engine for 4grands and the swap cost me 1grand but the car and shop is in california so maybe y have to move there but is kool. the engine blow cause with friends we install nos 200shot and we race and hold the nos too long and piston 3 and 4 gone ut well i win anyways lol __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 06-08-2007, 06:46 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | $4k for a US M3 engine is to much... You can get euro engines for just a little bit more than that... 1k for the swap seems low as well because you have to factor in all of the other parts. What made you think your stock engine could handle a 200 shot of nitrous? I know guys with completely built out muscle/drag cars that only run 100 or 150 shots. | | | 06-08-2007, 07:43 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | I would go with either a M3 engine or a M50 engine. Just me though. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 06-08-2007, 07:48 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: boston Posts: 142 | 99 BMW M3 3.2 Engine 93k miles Complete! - $3250 http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/pts/347541413.html came across this today __________________ HIOP TWINSCREW w/aftercooler water to air, 3.73 lsd, ported headdone, performence valve springs w/titanium retainersinstalled..nitrous kitinstalled fun fun X brace installed5th injector w/ piggyback controler, high flow cat | | | 06-08-2007, 09:39 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Tampa FL Posts: 84 | I just got a 2.8 L out of a 2000 Z3 with 30K miles. for $900. with computer, If you wans tome idea of prices...
