Default DASC group buy info from yahoo group

Hi fellas. Forgive me for the long post here.

I recall that they put together a group buy through the Yahoo group a couple of years ago. I paste in what i could find from the archives about price and minimum order to give an idea fyi about what the group buy might look like. Personally, I have always had a hard time talking myself into putting $3K+ into the kit. Also, I think that the guys organizing the group buy there may have had some kind of personal connection or inside track with the guy at Downing Atlanta. At any rate, for what its worth, here is the Yahoo groups discussion on a group buy:

I would think an extra $100-$150 would cover shipping to the UK. Good choice!

I'd possibly be interested but I need some figures before committing

Stormos, I've just phoned HM customs & revenue about import duties relevent to one of these kits & we have to pay 2.2% duty on the total price inc. shipping & then 17.5% vat on top of that! dont you just love this country, kin leeches

the vat bit only if its new. get them to put used on the box and a low value

the customs bit is different from the insured bit which is ALL you need to know!

Sorry fellows, but I'm gonna have to put this off to a later time because I just found out that my head gasket is shot. I just have to wait til my tax money comes back because the shop is charging me 1,500 to just swap the gasket and thats hoping the head is still good

UK shipping would be at least $250. Thats what I paid 5 years ago. Are you really planning to drop in an m42 and then the DA kit? Seems like a lot of effort for an extra 60 bhp.

IMHO dropping in a six pot would be a better option.

ca automotive sell it here already. £2410.

i found an m42+tranny with 16,000 miles for only 999 so i might just get that anyway and supercharge it at a later date.

insurance wouldn't rise too much imo. mate has a 400bhp 200sx and only pays 700 ish.

you have to go through a specialist like Adrian Flux, ordinary high street insurers would sh1t themselves. I once phoned my insurance company for a quote on a modded MR2 turbo running about 300hp & they refused to take it at any price - Adrian Flux quoted £580 fully comp
