Default Serial or Vin number

where are they located? just had a quick glance in the engine bay and couldnt see it! sorry for this pathetic question.

In the US, it is on the door, the dash by the windshield (driver's side), a cowling (?) behind the engine, and behind my lisense plate (!). It is on other palces too but I haven't looked.

Or were you just asking about the engine?

Bottom of the windscreen, passenger side, you need the last seven numbers for ordering parts
