It's time to move on from my 318ti and buy a new car. I'm looking for suggestions about a newer car (around model year 2011 or newer probably) that will feel like my 318. Looking for small and nimble, sporty and good looking, but slightly under powered. Suggestions? | | | 01-23-2014, 05:54 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2013 Location: NJ Posts: 373 | Mini Cooper? BRZ/FRS? Fiesta? __________________ 2000 M5 -> 1996 318ti -> 1997 328i Instagram: ndrewchow YouTube: MINIzguy | | | 01-23-2014, 06:37 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | If I was looking for something newer and not BMW I'd probably looking towards Mazda. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-23-2014, 06:51 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Seattle Posts: 513 | Isn't the company line, "there are no equals to the TI"? I'd think RWD and compact would ristrict your search substantially. | | | 01-23-2014, 07:12 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Bethlehem, PA Posts: 1,106 | 1 series BMW? they are basically the new 318ti. __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect! Bimmer Magazine recently ran an article, "Most Fun Under $5,000" The three cars: ti's, Z3's, and E-30's. | | | 01-24-2014, 12:42 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | 2011 or newer, the closest thing I can think of would be the BRZ/FRS as already mentioned. It's pretty much the same weight as a ti, rwd, definitely sporty, and has an "underpowered" 200hp/151ft lbs. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-25-2014, 06:14 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | +1 The new Subaru/Toyota is a pretty close ringer.. __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black Last edited by pdxmotorhead; 01-25-2014 at 06:31 AM. | | | 01-25-2014, 09:19 PM | #11 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Pt Cruiser Prius Last edited by cooljess76; 01-26-2014 at 05:01 PM. | | | 01-26-2014, 02:08 AM | #12 | Member Join Date: Jun 2012 Location: Philadelphia Pa. The ergonomics just didn't work and i HATE blue dash lights. (This bit not limited to Mazda..) Dont care if they look cool they eff up night vision.. __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black Last edited by pdxmotorhead; 01-26-2014 at 03:46 AM. It is basically a Fiesta with a few changes. It is small and fun to throw around. It may be too small when going from a Ti though. I think the Mazda3 is a little too big to compare to a 318ti. I drove Mazda3's a lot during the summer due to my job. While I enjoyed the shifter of the car and the responsive steering, I still felt I was a little disconnected from the entire car. __________________ 2000 M5 -> 1996 318ti -> 1997 328i Instagram: ndrewchow YouTube: MINIzguy | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
