Default ecu/dme location

I know this is a newbie question but where is it located on 94 318ti??

Looked is the engine bay, in the car without any luck

Thanks, but what is the point of taking that chip out? What is that chip?
Is it okay if i unplug it to check if there's any damage then put it back on? Thanks!

That chip contains the calibration data that runs the engine
