i cant find the steering column adjust knob or switch under the steering wheel according to the manuel its under the steering wheel somewhere and i've gotten on my hands and knees and looked under and around and cant find it. i'm thinking its a fixed or set position and the only way to adjust myself to the steering wheel is the second lever on the seat where you can adjust the height of your seat
I don't know about the Euro version of the 318ti, but the US version doesn't have an adjustable steering column. Is that manual specifically for a 318ti, or is it for all E36's?

yeah, I'm pretty sure the E36 compact didn't come with a tilt steering wheel, there have been people who have retrofitted them, anyone else have any info on that?
I'd rather rub broken glass into my eyeballs than try to retrofit tilt steering into my car. I know there's someone on this forum who has done it but way to much hassle IMO.
