Do you need the whole thing replaced or is it the motor?
Does it leak or what?

I need the whole thing and it does leak on one side .

sounds like the seal. you could try reconditioning it or replace it. have you opened the top and checked the condition of the seal? gummi fhlege i'd read of on a number of forums and it was specifically recommended and sold by bmw (but they no longer carry it). a google search brought up those two places pretty quickly. the diagram is from a site called www.realoem.com which has the bmw ETK parts catalog online. you can enter the last seven digits of your vin and get the parts (more or less) specific to your ti  __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles
