I always loved VWs and Audis but never had a BMW. My sister gave me the Ti when my A6 was totaled by a careless driver. I didnt like the Ti at first due to the A6 luxury options when commuting. I slowly started upgrading the Ti and really fell in love with the RWD and the look hatchback. I think the Ti is like good Whiskey; the first time you try it you dont appreciate the quality and flavor. I can see myself owning it for another ten years. __________________ 318ti, sport, hellrot, 05/95 Munich, Germany | | | 01-07-2007, 07:01 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | i have always loved bmw's since i was like 13...not sure why i just saw one in a parking lot at the local YMCA one day and loved the look of it....i always wanted a 325i, but those were too expensive...so i got a 318ti....i didnt know what i was getting until i had it....and a TI kicks a 325i's A55 ANY DAY! __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 01-09-2007, 05:46 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | I've loved Tis since 95, before I could drive. and I loved BMW since I was a kid, along with Porsche(77-80s 911 and 924/944/928s) and Mercedes(pre-war Mercedes) | | | 01-09-2007, 05:39 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | I was eyeing BMWs for a while, but I ended up with the TI by complete chance. I randomly looked at the "FOR SALE" board at my job and there it was, and ridiculously cheap. He had just posted it that morning, and it was snatched up by me that afternoon. There is another TI that works here (4000 employees), black, grey cloth, steel rims with orig BMW covers. I haven't ran into that person yet. Given the mods I've done I guess beginner-freak is appropriate. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 01-09-2007, 05:43 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Never really was a big bmw fan, but was a hatchback fan and needed a car at the time. I initially wanted a Honda CRX. . . finally got that idea out of my head and started looking at VW GTIs. At the time, my price range was $3k. Then a couple months ago, I stumbled upon the 318ti on edmunds and found this website. . . now I'm doing all I can to get my hands on one. | | | 01-09-2007, 06:22 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | +1 My requirement was German made hatchback, and that only left the Benz Kompressor or the BMW 318ti. There werent any in my area for the price range i wanted, but there was the TI and an audi a4 quattro 2.8 but i wanted the 1.8t. The audi was double the price of the ti and the owner of the audi wouldnt return my calls so i said screw it and bought the ti. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 01-09-2007, 07:02 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | probably beginner freak here too. In 1975, while stationed in Germany I got a 1969 1800 four door (kinda like an ugly four door 2002). Bought my 1987 E30 325 brand new and we still have that, and it's still stock. Just bought my 1998 ti Sport last October after looking for a year. So I don't know if this quite makes me a freak, but I definitely got something in my blood! __________________ 1998 318ti Sport, Arctic Silver, Mtech, Dinan Chip 1987 E30 325 Stock (bought it new!) It reminded me of hooked up Honda Civic hatchbacks, only with more class. So I had to get it even though it was more than I was looking to spend. I lucked out because my credit card sent me a blank check to use during that time and I was able to get the car. | | | 01-10-2007, 06:56 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | Quote: Originally Posted by 96cali probably beginner freak here too.
