Its jam up to, everything on it is pretty much new alont with the 18inch X5 rims he fabricated on. My dad offered me a trade, my TI needs a lot of work to be what i want it to be, i just cant do it. i honestly love my ti. | | | 03-15-2009, 04:09 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Tell him if he offers you again, that you'll call the cops on him. I advise against doing it. If you love your ti, keep it. The ti is a extreamly fun fledged car. A lot of people regret selling/trading/wrecking their car afterward. Quote: my TI needs a lot of work to be what i want it to be | Sounds like you want to track the car or something. Sure the e46 has m3 suspensions, but you can't track the car mainly because it's a convertible, and they don't allow verts to track due to chassis flex. If you're not planning to track the car on it, you still can't push the car as hard a 318ti, because you still have to keep chassis flexing in mind. No extreamly hard turns, no pissing your pants, no orgasms, no more getting chicks with your ride, and no more fun. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. He has a 318ti, but has been driving his dads Y2K 323Ci for the past few days. He says everything is like new on it. His dad offered to trade cars. His 318ti for his dads 323Ci. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. From reading the thread title, I thought he no longer owned a 318ti and there was a certain feature or atribute about it that he missed. I understood the part where his dad bought a "pimped out" 323ci from a friend and let the OP drive it. Aparently his dad offered to trade the vert for the OP's Ti which needs a lot of work, but the OP can't bring himself to trading his Ti for the vert because he has become too attached to his Ti. Aside from the thread title, I'm a little confused about this statement: "...and he fabricated an E36 M3 suspension on this thing. Its jam up to, everything on it is pretty much new alont with the 18inch X5 rims he fabricated on." Did the PO actually fabricate a suspension setup similar to BMW's e36 M3 setup and install it or did he swap something from an e36 M3 onto the vert? Are we talking M3 struts, swaybar links, strut bearings, offset bushings? What about the rear? Springs, Motorsport trailing arms? It's jam up to? He fabricated 18" X5 rims? Sounds like a nicely modded 323 vert rollin on 18" X5 rims. I'd take your dad up on the trade. | | | 03-16-2009, 07:07 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-16-2009, 04:15 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | I understand the sentiment of the OP. When I went BMW hunting I went looking at a number of different models. From the E36m3 down to the E30 318is. I honestly loved the "feel" if the 318is the most. it was a lively and willing partner for the type of backroads driving I prefer. Lightweight, decent power, great handling that was easily tossed around and corner and caught again. Unfortunately the seller wanted too much money and I already own a car prone to rot (my fiat spider) so I went looking for the next best thing. The 318ti. To be honest, I feel the ti is a better car than the is. It is only a little heavier (but not much) with a better suspension and braking system all around. And while the body styling may not be to most people's tastes, I prefer the utility of a hatchback over that of a sedan. the Ti really is the best of both the E30 and E36.. as for the E36m3. I liked that car a lot, if I was into high speed. I found the more "refined" rear suspension on the sedan and coupe' tended to make the car too predictable and harder to toss around a hard bend. You can ask the guys I went with on a couple of runs with in King of Prussa last year. With a mostly stock M44.. I was able to keep up with the "bigger" six cylinder cars with ease. they only lost me on the straights.. but as the guy behind me said afterward... I went around a lot of the corners sideways. And before you take me to task for "playing" on public roads. I make it a point to do it either around other enthusiasts, or in remote places were I have a LOT of room to see what is around me. In traffic and on the highway, I am one of the most boring driver's around. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
