Got the CCV taken cared off early this morning.

Now, the starter, it's going to be a pain. I don't think taking the manifold off will help.
If I go from the bottom, I think I will need a long 3/8 drive extension and a universal joint for the E12 torx socket. Is this correct? I cannot use just a 3/8 ratchet handle, no way it will fit in the firewall space.

Got the starter replaced in 2 hours. I have the threaded starter housing. The upper bolt was a pain. It took a combination of E12 torx socket, universal joint, and 2x 10 inch 3/8 drive extensions and ratchet and the most important tool, my MAXJAX lift. Getting my left hand from the bottom to get to the top bolt, holding the socket with the universal and 10 inch extension was a pain. Also the tunnel insulation is coming off from the glue made it a little bit more harder because it was sagging and making the space a little tighter.

But i got it.

It starts a lot faster with the new Bosch starter from Bimmerbum.

It also idles a lot smoother with the new CCV valve. Something fell out of the bottom hole of old CCV valve, it was shot.

I tossed in an AZ starter almost a year ago, so like 30,000 miles on it and it's been fine.

Kick ass man, glad you got everything sorted. And yes, that's exactly how I've replaced them in the past. Much faster/easier than removing the intake manifold.
