Default DDM Tuning: E36 Mirrors

Has anyone bought the E36 M3-Style Side Mirrors (Pair) from ddmtuning? I'm looking to get a pair but need to know how decent they are. The few I found on eBay looked pretty crappy. Also, how much did you pay for shipping/C.O.D/custom fees etc?

yes, Jess did buy a set of M3 knock-off mirrors on Ebay and painted them black with a rattle can...they turned out great.

Yeah I got a set. They're just as good of quality as the OEM Mtech mirrors, the only difference is the aftermarket ones have a wide angle feature which is kinda cool once you get used to it. I think they're a little quieter than the stock non-mtech mirrors too. One thing I suggest is reusing your triangular rubber seals off of your old mirrors. The seals provided with the aftermarket mirrors seems to be softer and less resistant to the elements as the original seals. I reused mine, they fit perfectly.

That looks awesome. Excellent write up Jess. Btw, in one of the pictures (reflection in "Nice Glossy finish") is Jess enthusiastically giving us the finger?

Mtech mirrors are a relatively inexpensive way to give your car a sporty look. They're easy to install, but painting them can spoil the project if you rush or don't have experience. Since my car is black, it was easy to match the paint. Duplicolor was pretty close. In your case, I'd probably take them to a paint and body shop and have them sprayed. Otherwise there's a website(can't remember the name, maybe someone can help me) that sells factory colors in aerosol cans. I'm pretty sure your car is AvusBlau, but you'll need to get the numeric paint code off of the driver's side strut tower in the engine compartment.

yeah, you caught me.

paintscratch.com is one of the sites where you can buy auto paint and clear in aerosol cans.

Jess, you recommend "lightly sanding". What grit size did you use? P1000?

Do you remember the name of the eBay store you got the mirrors from? Might still be listed under your "purchase history" in your eBay account. Would you mind? Just wanna compare price/quality etc with ddm.

I bought my first set on ebay and my current set from DDM. They're the same exact mirrors, came in the same packaging and if I remember correctly the ones I bought on ebay were $125.

Most vendors use the same distribution companies for he.mirrors. DDMs mirrors are no different than the ones on ebay. If you do buy through ddm, make sure you test fit the mirrors to see if the motors are working right since once they are painted, the warranty is voided. Electrodyne.cc sells the same.mirrors and you can get them in a carbon fiber finish.

Also, there are no taxes or fees that ddm will charge you for the international package but im sure canadian customs will.
