Turn the engine off?

Seriously though, what were you doing when the CEL came on? You're going to have to give us more information if you want someone to be able to help. Good luck.

It will be simpler to have this discussion in one thread, so use the other one in the "Air Filters / Intakes" section.

There is a sensor in the airbox you removed, probably that's what's trippimg the CEL. Not sure of the remedy.

If everything is fine and you wouldnt mind. You could just take out the bulb from the back of your cluster.

Not that difficult to remove if you excercise patience. But if you dont fix the sensor issue....your gonna have huge headache when smog time comes around.

good luck!

hi i run a mobile diagnostic service i deal with problems like this all the time .most likely you unpluged the air flow metter at some time to do your install with the battery cable on it stored a memory default unplug the bat negative turn on ur head lamps to drain all the power in ur ecu then plug it pack if no lights on ur good if u still have check engine u need to run a scanner to see what open loop you have in ur system ...hope that helped you out ....

Default WORKS

It does work. I have done it several times. It is pretty cool. I did it on my 325is, and it spat out codes for the o2 sensor and something else ( can't remember) so I changed it and...PRESTO check engine light gone.

The key is to get the timing right...it is easier on the e30's.
