I need someone to check their hood before I go out and replace the struts. On the left side (driver US) there appears to be a bolt missing on the part that secures the strut to the hood. On the right side there is no place for a bolt. So I wonder if I'm not missing a bolt at all. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 08-02-2008, 05:00 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | I have a bolt on the left side... nothing on the right. looks like you are missing one. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Judging from realoem, I'm guessing it might be M6X12 This might be the cheapest repair I've ever done. Hopefully that bolt is not in the engine bay. That's odd that one side has the bolt because if you push on the hood upwards, there is some play. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 08-02-2008, 05:52 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Driver's side has a bolt that secures the pivot to the bracket that connects to the hood. Make sure you check the engine bay thoroughly for the lost bolt--don't want it falling into something that spins. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 08-02-2008, 09:27 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Bummer. The bolt didn't fix it.
